    History

The firm commenced operation when sole practitioner Robert Cowan who had a visited office in Nambour opened a permanent office in 1913.  In the 1930’s Roy Charleton took over the practice before Harrold Blackman entered the partnership in 1947 followed by John Butler in 1953.  The firm name was changed in the 1960’s after the introduction of Stafford McDermott as a partner and subsequently Terry Egan.

The evolution of the firm has continued from that time to the present partners.
Our main office has always been centrally located in Nambour, although we have had offices in  Alexandra Headland and Noosa.

We pride ourselves on our strong ties to the local community and greater Sunshine Coast region which provides us with a wealth of local knowledge that is invaluable to us in recognizing and attending to the legal requirements of our clients.

Butler McDermott Lawyers provides security, stability and satisfaction in the services it provides to successive generations of clients.
